The line-up of partners and participants for Matter 1.0 is a who’s who in smart home tech: Amazon, Google, Apple and Samsung SmartThings are all on board, as are companies like Legrand, Yale, Aqara and Eve Systems.
In terms of device types, Matter 1.0 supports lighting and electrics, locks and security devices, thermostats and blinds, windows and doors, and TVs and appliances. There aren’t a lot of advanced features available at launch, but the specification is designed to grow over time.
